10/27/05: A New One-Mile Record for Me!
Since I missed my one-mile trial a few weeks ago, I needed to get one in today. Although I did it alone, it didn’t bother me because I was focused and the weather felt great. After a relaxed one-mile warmup, I stretched a little and pumped myself up about how I was going to run an awesome mile and set a new record for myself…sure enough, I pulled off a 7:29 mile!!! Woohoo!! That is a 44-second improvement over my last mile-trial in August, wow!
After that mile, I took another stretch break and decided to finish off my work-out with a race-pace 5k run. So I pulled off a 27:45 5k AFTER that mile trial! (My second fastest 5k to date after my 5k split in the 20k relay…can I improve on that by December? I hope so! That time is still 59 seconds fastest then my last 5k race!) This was totally the workout I needed to keep my energy level high and my focus strong as I go into November and start to get into my longer runs…in fact, I have a 12 miler on Sunday, wish me luck!!
The STATS:
5 total miles
